1.Maj Gen Ajay Saxena took over as Chairman QMTI immediately after assuming the appointment of General Officer Commanding, Pune Sub Area on 12 Jul 2011.

2.Maj Gen Ajay Saxena was commissioned on 11 Jun 1977 in 10 GUARDS (now in MECH INF). He has rich operational experience of counter insurgency operations wherein he operated as Second in Command and Commanding Officer of 7 Rashtriya Rifles Battalion in operations in J & K. He has represented the country in United nations mission in Angola (Africa).

3.His professional acumen and devotion to duty has been commended in all assignments which also incl integrated Headquarters of ministry of Defense (Army) and UN Mission abroad. Before taking over the command of Pune Sub Area he was DDG (Ceremonials) at Integrated HQ of MoD (Army).

4.After assuming the coveted appointment of Chairman QMTI, Maj Gen Ajay Saxena has set a goal to further glorify the Institute for all its noble endeavors, it is associated with. He wants the whole Nation to know and acknowledge the role of QMTI and the brave and glorious deeds of our brethren in Armed Forces who facilitate a safe living and functional environment at all times , even at the cost of their lives.

5.Besides being the General Officer Commanding, Pune Sub Area and Chairman QMTI, he is also performing the following responsibilities:-

(a)President, Pune Cantonment Board.
(b)President, INTACH Pune Chapter.
(c)President, Society for Prevention of Cruelty towards Animals.
(d)Chairman, Paraplegic Rehabilitation Centre, Kirkee.
(e)Chairman, Cheshire Home, Pune Camp.
(f)Chairman, Kendriya Vidyalayas Southern Command and Army Area.
(g)Member, Advisory Board, Top Management Consortium, Pune.
(h)Standing Committee Member, SIMS, Pune.
